THE MUSEUM AS AN OPEN SPACE: BETWEEN ACCESSIBILITY AND INCLUSION – Session III.

THE MUSEUM AS AN OPEN SPACE: BETWEEN ACCESSIBILITY AND INCLUSION
Session III – Research between innovation and dissemination.

In the new definition of a museum, approved by ICOM in 2022, not only is the role of the museum as a permanent nonprofit institution serving society reaffirmed, but research, interpretation, and display of cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, emerge as fundamental goals.

Research is thus positioned at the heart of the debate and, both as a means and an end, takes a central role in developing new narratives and avenues for engaging different audiences with innovative and challenging languages.

The conference will feature professionals from diverse backgrounds and professional expertise working on cutting-edge projects and initiatives to promote audience inclusion and cultural outreach. The table will see the sharing of strategies and studies aimed at promoting heritage in different cultural contexts but which have in common the intention of transforming the museum and cultural institutions into accessible places integrated into the territorial and social fabric.

  • Matteo Bagnasco, Head of Objective Culture at the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation
