Sara Oliviero

General Directorate Museums

An art historian specializing in the study and appreciation of tangible and intangible heritage, she has oriented her research toward 16th-century painting, with particular attention to the relationship between Italy and Flanders. She has conducted in-depth investigations in Belgium and Germany on the production of Flemish painters active in Italy. In parallel, he has collaborated for many years on projects to enhance the historical-artistic heritage of Italy’s Historical Hospitals, promoting awareness of collections of extraordinary value but often little known to the general public. Serving in the Ministry of Culture since 1999-with a five-year interlude at the Department for Equal Opportunity of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers-she has gained extensive experience in the field of protection, later orienting her efforts toward the areas of valorization and international relations. She is currently an official art historian at the “Museums and Archaeological Parks of Capri” Institute and, at the General Directorate of Museums of the MIC, she coordinates the working group responsible for the content of the Italian Museums APP, a digital platform dedicated to the promotion of the national heritage. Always active in hospital volunteering, she now combines her historical-artistic skills with Cultural Welfare initiatives, with the aim of weaving Culture and Health into innovative paths of shared well-being.
