SANTAGATA FOUNDATION FOR THE ECONOMY OF CULTURE
The “Santagata Foundation for the Economy of Culture” was established on April 13, 2018 at the urging of the Silvia Santagata-EBLA Study Center.
The Foundation brings together the experiences and expertise carried out in the past years by the Study Center and aims to continue the scholarly work begun by Walter Santagata, an international pioneer of the Economics of Culture, who was born on April 13, 1945.
The Foundation’s areas of work, active on research, evaluation and knowledge transfer projects, cover four main thematic strands: models for cultural heritage management, with a focus on economic development of territories and UNESCO programs; contemporary cultural productions and cultural innovation, with a focus on emerging markets and new professions; tourism related to tangible and intangible cultural heritage, creative industries and productive districts; and sustainable development, with a focus on UNESCO programs and the relationship between cultural, natural and sustainable heritage.
Strengthening collaborative networks between cultural workers and other sectors and supporting the internationalization of knowledge and cultural workers in order to enhance their capacity for social and economic impact are also in the Foundation’s mission.
The outcomes of the Foundation’s activities are regularly disseminated nationally and internationally, through collaborative networks with our partner institutions and entities, UNESCO information channels, the community of participants of training activities, as well as the social channels of the Foundation and individual projects.
