Piazza Navona Underground – Stadio di Domiziano

Piazza Navona Underground – Stadio di Domiziano

Stand B2

The ruins of the Stadium of Domitian (Unesco World Heritage site) are located about 4,50 meters below street level. The first and only example of masonry stadium ever built in ancient Rome, the archaeological site lies under the surface of Piazza Navona. Explanatory panels, 3D video reconstructions and audio-guides (designed for both children and grown-ups) allow visitors to discover the history of sports from the time of Ancient Greece to Imperial Rome, with an additional section illustrating the history of the Stadium and the long-time evolution of the overlying piazza. The site is fully-equipped to host events, gala dinners, exclusive visits and temporary exhibitions. We are open every day.
