MATUTA JEWELRY
Matuta Gioielli is a child of the 1900s. Cristina Serafini Sauli, an architect and designer by profession, passionate about jewelry, semi-precious stones and metals, has been creating jewelry for as long as she can remember. After 20 years as an architect, she decided to turn her passion for jewelry into a brand: Matuta Gioielli was born. Matuta’s jewelry is inspired by architecture, modern art, painting and sculpture: a strong nature always emerges over all of them, ironizing and playing with size and structure. The shape of a gnarled branch, a stylized shell, multicolored beetles towering over geometric shapes and semi-precious stones. Cristina Serafini Sauli loves imperfect stones, inclusions that tower above perfect nature, as if to detect their uniqueness. Her favorite metal is bronze for its warm coppery color and beautiful texture, but she also uses silver and brass from time to time. She is a self-taught jeweler, so her approach to ancient lost-wax techniques is sometimes unconventional, but each piece is strong and unique. In addition to her collections, she also creates custom jewelry. Interacting with her clients, listening to their ideas and desires, Cristina creates small masterpieces perfect just for them As a member of Re_ENCHANTING, a collective of artists, designers, Matutagioielli has created custom themed jewelry collections for museums, freely inspired by an artist, a place, a work of art, a symbol, or a narrative belonging to the cultural heritage of our city. Since 2020, Matutagioielli has been on Wellmade’s list of Italy’s most interesting artisans, chosen by the Fondazione Cologni mestieri d’arte |
