Liviu Constantinescu
Born in 1950, Liviu Constantinescu is an architect by training who has devoted most of his professional career to the restoration and renovation of the National Art Museum of Romania.
He has a special interest in the consolidation of protected buildings and architectural lighting. Constantinescu joined the Museum in 1987 as head of the technical department. From 1999 to 2017 he was Deputy Director (with technical responsibilities) and from August 2017 until 2020 he is Director General, now from 2021 he is Deputy Director General. In his various functions, Mr. Constantinescu oversaw all technical aspects related to the restoration and renovation of the museum-both the main building, the former Royal Palace building on CaleaVictoriei, and the museum branches: the Art Collections Museum, the Zambaccian Museum, and the Pallady Museum. The renovation of the Brancusi Hall is one of the most recent projects he coordinated. In 1996, Constantinescu participated in a British Council exchange program that allowed him to get acquainted with some of the most important museums in the United Kingdom, such as the National Gallery, the British Museum, the V&A, the Dulwich Picture Gallery, the Royal Academy of Arts,Gallery, The Queen,” etc.
