Haltadefinizione has always been dedicated to the protection of historical and artistic heritage, particularly the preservation and enhancement of cultural property through the use of digital technologies. By focusing its activities on the acquisition of artworks in ultra-high definition, the development of innovative gigapixel and 3D filming technology, and the production of 3D replicas, Haltadefinizione has revolutionized the way art is viewed and enjoyed, inside and outside the museum.
Over the years, the company has perfected its software and techniques for gigapixel, 3D and multispectral photo acquisition, collaborating with leading cultural institutions in Italy and abroad. While Haltadefinizione is committed to enhancing the value of art through new technologies, it also offers clients ongoing support, providing them with the most advanced developed know-how for the preservation, protection, and study of cultural heritage. This has resulted in a new way of promoting artworks for the institutions that preserve them, with sophisticated tools specifically geared toward the dissemination of art-historical knowledge and the communication of digitization projects.
In 2019 Haltadefinizione signed an agreement with the Ministry of Culture, then renewed in 2021, in order to regulate the use of images from its image bank, an online photo archive that now has hundreds of gigapixel images. The image bank is constantly being updated and expanded and proved particularly important during the 2020 pandemic emergency, enabling the launch of virtual art fruition projects such as, for example, the one shared with the Pinacoteca di Brera.
Haltadefinizione constantly invests in the development of software and DAMs for the management and use of gigapixel images, but it also engages in designing the most suitable equipment and conducting acquisition campaigns, studying and adapting them, together with partner company Memooria.
