STATEMENT
The 2023 edition of RO.ME – Museum Exhibition has ‘Museums as open spaces’ as its central theme. The challenges and new crises that the global community continues to face, in the post-COVID landscape, are rapidly being reflected in the field of museums and heritage that cater to audiences with increasingly differentiated expectations and modes of enjoyment.
Museums are called to seek their own increasingly open vision, to look critically at their own work, to question what strategies can be adopted to promote a greater sense of inclusion and participation for diverse audiences, how to represent the plurality of voices in contemporary society and respond meaningfully to global demands for equity, inclusiveness and transparency.
