WORKSHOP – BOROUGHS PLUS

BETWEEN DIGITAL ADOPTION AND IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCES FOR PUBLIC CULTURAL HERITAGE ENHANCEMENT

Organized in collaboration with Gate 4.0

The emergence related to Covid-19 has accelerated digitization processes in the world of culture, opening up new opportunities for the enhancement of cultural heritage.

While digital transformation was initially approached as a mere transposition of the tangible asset into an archive that can also be used digitally, the potential offered by technological infrastructure is broader.

To fully realize the paradigm shift in the enjoyment and appreciation of cultural heritage, it is important to have, on the one hand, actors with the appropriate skills to apply digital to cultural heritage and, on the other hand, communities and public administrations open to experimenting with new experiences toward a new frontier of cultural heritage appreciation.

In this context, Italian villages, a great cultural and natural heritage of our country, which have been penalized by population decline and lack of physical and digital infrastructure, can play an important role.

The session will discuss some experiences featuring some Italian Villages in Emilia-Romagna with projects funded by the PNRR that aim at inclusive development and how immersiveness and interaction brought by digital contribute to enhance tangible and intangible heritage and turn into a lever of attractiveness, identity, development.
