THE MUSEUM AS A TOOL FOR CULTURAL REGENERATION OF TERRITORIES

Promoted by the Ministero della Cultura – Dipartimento per la Valorizzazione del Patrimonio Culturale

The opening session of the conference aims to explore the current role of the museum as a tool that can activate cultural, social and economic regeneration.

In line with Ministro Alessandro Giuli Act of Address for 2025-2027, the debate will try to develop and share reflections on one of the topics of greatest interest among the objectives indicated by the Minister: the Olivetti Plan for Culture. In particular, as is well known, the Plan delves into the themes of the regeneration of suburbs and marginal areas, the development of culture as an accessible common good integrated into the life of communities in compliance with the principle of horizontal subsidiarity, and the cultural regeneration of inland and disadvantaged areas as tools for intellectual and civic education, social connection, and the promotion of the book publishing industry.

Cultural sites, as custodians of the nation’s history and memory, are therefore analyzed as strategic tools serving the community.

The speakers, who come from diverse backgrounds but share an experimental approach to heritage enhancement, will aim to highlight practices and governance models capable of connecting local communities, landscape and cultural identity.
