LE MACCHINE CELIBI

STAND D03

The Le Macchine Celibi cooperative was founded in 1990 by a university cultural association which had already had some spaces managed by the University of Bologna since 1988 to carry out the project of an Archive-Laboratory on contemporary art. Starting from 1995, the cooperative began to manage services for public bodies: museums (ticket office, guided tours, bookshop and teaching, security and visitor reception, concierge and switchboard, technical support in setting up exhibitions); libraries (front office, reference, lending, cataloguing, relocation); theaters (mask, ticket office, cloakroom); cultural institutions (exhibition programming, communication and installations for contemporary art galleries and cultural centers); youth centers (cultural and entertainment programming, training offer), youth information and tourist information services, managing to combine the fundamental initial cultural and social values with management and organizational skills.
In addition to the management of services for public bodies, over the years the cooperative also structures its activity in other sectors: particularly relevant is that of the management of cultural events (in 2019 it managed the summer cultural activities in Piazza Verdi in Bologna; for 3 organizes the Bellaria Film Festival for years). The cooperative plans the training activity annually, preparing a company training plan in collaboration with accredited training bodies, in order to participate in national Foncoop tenders. This allows it to bring additional economic resources into the contracts managed to be allocated to the updating and training of the staff employed. It is a reliable economic entity, has a turnover of 10 million euros, a net worth of 1,600,000 euros, and a positive balance sheet. In the panorama of the management of services for Public Bodies, the cooperative brings the experience gained in the various sectors of activity, so that the provision of services itself includes an overall consultancy, supervision and scientific coordination activity which precedes the start of the service itself and continues in parallel with the specific activities, bringing the added value of the experience gained in the individual sectors to each individual contract. This mission has accentuated in recent years, in which the operators of the cooperative collaborate directly with the Culture Offices of some Municipalities to support the activities of various Departments, or participate in the meetings of the Scientific Committees of the institutions managed, giving a contribution in the development of projects in order to recover additional resources for the implementation of services.
The cooperative currently operates in eleven regions (Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Piedmont, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lombardy, Veneto, Lazio, Marche, Umbria, Liguria, Campania). It manages over 130 libraries on behalf of public bodies. It has a staff of 700 employees, mostly hired on permanent contracts.
Since 2004, it has held the UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 Quality Certification for: Design and provision of management services for youth centers with educational and cultural services, libraries, concierges, security and reception, auxiliary services and cultural events (exhibitions, museums ) – IAF 35, 39. It also holds the ISO 45.001 certification on workplace safety.
Currently the cooperative, which has always had collaborative relationships with the University of Bologna, co-finances a research project of the Department of Visual Arts for the cataloging and valorisation of the Historical Archive of Video Art, containing rare filmed art documents Contemporary. He was commissioned by the University of Bologna to catalog the “Eco collection”, Umberto Eco’s personal library.
