National Gallery of Modern Art

Renata Cristina Mazzantini, PhD architect, has been the Director of the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art since 2024.

She is curator of the contemporary Quirinale project and Consultant to the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic for artistic and architectural profiles.

She is a member of the Degree Course in Design, Sapienza University of Rome; of the Scientific Committee of the Master in Art Law of Luiss University; of the Scientific Committee for the selection of artists authors of the images to be reproduced on the silos in the construction site of Metro C in Piazza Venezia, Rome; of the Jury for the selection of the city “Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2026-2027”; of the Italian Pavilion 2025 International Architecture Exhibition Commission of “La Biennale di Venezia”; of the Scientific Committee of the exhibition promoted by Federesuli (ViVe); She was a member of the jury of the Compasso d’oro Award in 2024; she is a member of the jury of the Cairo Award in 2024 and 2025.

Since 2001, for over thirteen years, she has been a consultant on the artistic and architectural aspects of the activities of the Administration of the Chamber of Deputies.

She was a member of the Italian National Commission for UNESCO and president of the ISIA of Faenza; she also collaborated with Fai and the Sicilian Region. For Rai TG2 Cultura, she edited the column “Tuesday’s Cultural Itineraries.” She has been a lecturer at Sapienza University of Rome, IULM and then at the Milan Polytechnic; she currently teaches at the Master in Art Law at Luiss University in Rome.

Author of articles, essays and volumes, she has curated several institutional projects including: MIT Contemporaneo for the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Villa Firenze Contemporanea and Contemporanei a Palazzo Borromeo for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Reggia Contemporanea for the Villa Reale and Parco di Monza Consortium, ARSxIUS for the Scuola Superiore della Magistratura.
