It all began in 2018 with “Chiese a Porte Aperte”, an innovative project – unique in Europe – that revolutionized the way people experience and share the wonder of ecclesiastical cultural heritage. Conceived by the Consulta BCE and the Fondazione CRT, the system created six sacred art itineraries across Piedmont and the Aosta Valley, allowing anyone to independently discover true treasures of art and spirituality.

In 2025, the project grows and evolves into “Cultura a Porte Aperte”: a replicable and ever-expanding best practice that opens new horizons by including new sites and territories. Today, the experience goes beyond ecclesiastical heritage to embrace towers, castles, fortifications, and small archaeological parks, gradually extending to other Italian regions.

To accompany this evolution, the Consulta BCE has promoted the creation of the social enterprise “Comunità e Culture”, a new organization dedicated to developing and coordinating the system, so that “Open Culture” may continue to ignite the wonder of those who love to discover beauty.
