Helen Marais

Helen Marais is the Political Counsellor Internal Affairs at the British Embassy in Rome. As part of her role she works to promote links and best practice sharing between regional and local authorities in the UK and Italy across a range of policy areas, including culture, heritage and education. She has been in the diplomatic service since 2009; her previous postings include Kabul and Brussels. She was brought up in Essex, just east of London and studied Modern History at Somerville College, Oxford.
