Francesco Muscolino (1976), after graduating in Classical Humanities from the University of Catania (1999), obtained a Specialization in Archaeology from the same University (2004) and a Doctorate in Archaeology and History of Greek and Roman Art from the University of Messina (2008). He has been an archaeologist at the Ministry of Culture since 2010; from 2010 to 2016 he worked at the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Lombardy, from 2016 to 2017 at the Polo Museale della Campania, and from 2017 to 2020 at the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. He directed the Archaeological Area (Roman Villa and Antiquarium) of Palazzo Pignano (CR) (2012-2014), the Archaeological Area and Antiquarium of Castelseprio (VA), belonging to the UNESCO serial site The Lombards in Italy. Places of Power (568-774 AD) (2012-2016), the Stabia Excavation Office, with Villa San Marco and Villa Arianna, pertaining to the Archaeological Park of Pompeii (2019-2020). Since 2020 he has been director of the National Museums of Cagliari; since July 2025 he has also been delegate of the Director General of Museums avocating to the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Sardinia.
