Filippo Demma
A classical archaeologist by training, he studied in Naples, Rome and Berlin, later teaching courses in Archaeology and History of Greek and Roman Art at the universities of Rome “la Sapienza,” Cassino, Camerino and at the Scuola Superiore Meridionale in Naples. He has directed archaeological excavation campaigns and interventions in central and southern Italy and participated in excavation and reconnaissance campaigns in France, Turkey and Egypt. Serving in the Ministry of Culture since 2010, he has been in charge of the archaeological protection of the province of Ascoli Piceno, the Sorrento Peninsula and the Campi Flegrei (Na); he has directed the museums of Sora (Fr) and Ascoli Piceno, the Archaeological Parks of Cuma and Liternum and the Submerged Archaeological Park of Baia (Na). Currently, as Director at the Ministry of Culture, he is Director of the Archaeological Park of Sibari -Museum of Significant National Interest, endowed with special autonomy- as well as, on an interim basis, of the Regional Directorate of Museums Calabria, and teaches Museography at the School of Specialization in Archaeology of the State University of Turin.
