ART BONUS – ALES
Ales – Arte Lavoro e Servizi S.p.A. is the in-house company of the Ministry of Culture, which owns 100 percent of its share capital.
A unique model in Italy, Ales performs services for the MiC in the enjoyment, preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage, with the aim of efficiently supporting public administration processes.
Started in 1999, Ales has expanded its service offerings over time and is now a structured and evolving presence in almost all Italian regions, offering new qualifications in Italian museum management and showing attention to qualified youth employment. Ales is also the entity delegated to manage the activities of the Scuderie del Quirinale and the promotion and management of the Art Bonus law.
Art Bonus is the rule, introduced by Decree Law 83 of May 31, 2014, that provides a 65 percent tax credit for liberal cash disbursements in support of culture and entertainment by individuals: individuals, businesses, foundations and other noncommercial entities. This important tax break applies to donations for the restoration of publicly owned cultural property, support for museums, libraries, archives, archaeological sites and public monument complexes, or support for performing arts organizations stipulated in the standard. Six years after its enactment, more than 600 million euros have already been donated nationwide by some 25,000 patrons.
In order to facilitate the awareness and dissemination of the Art Bonus, the MiC makes use of the company ALES, which is a point of reference for potential stakeholders through the management of the portal www.artbonus.gov.it, a statutory transparency tool, and ensures efficient and competent interlocution to facilitate public-private synergies.
