Annamaria Mauro

Director of the national Museum of Matera and the regional Directorate of Museums of Basilicata

Annamaria Mauro is the National Museum of Matera Director, an autonomous museum, since the 9th November 2020.
The experience as Architectural Officer in the Archaeological Park of Pompeii from 2012 to 2020, together with the assignment, in the same site, by the General Secretary of Minister of Culture, of the delegation of functions for the ordinary management about administrative activities, gave her an overall vision about the management of an autonomous Institute and the ideas of an innovative program for the valorisation of the museum both about permanent collections and the creation of important temporary exhibitions, such as ‘From Matera to Pompeii. Journey into beauty’, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Museums and the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, and ‘Italian Futurism. The contribution of the South to the developments of the movement’, in collaboration with the Veneto Regional Museums Directorate.
She is the Director of Basilicata Regional Museum Directorate sing the April 2021. This gives her a global concept to create a unitary regional network for the exploitation and the fruition of the whole Basilicata.
