NEW GENERATIONS AND MUSEUMS

The role of museums in education and active participation of young people

In cooperation with the Ministero della Cultura – Dipartimento per la Valorizzazione del Patrimonio Culturale

The meeting aims to investigate how museums can assume an increasingly central role in the educational and engagement processes of new generations, fostering inclusion, participation and cultural growth.

Through the presentation of projects and practices activated in the area, the panel will explore innovative models of dialogue between museum institutions, schools and communities. Barbara Rossi will present the experience of the Drugstore Museum of the Special Superintendence of Rome, with a project dedicated to civic heritage education, developed to bring students closer to the social and cultural value of the commons. Axel Hémery, director of the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Siena, will illustrate the Body Speaking and Be Different workshops, paths in which dance, creative movement, visual education and cognitive reworking are interwoven to promote personal expression, awareness and dialogue.

The panel will be an opportunity to reflect on the future directions of the relationship between young people and museums, and how museums can become active spaces for cultural citizenship, well-being and skill development.

Speakers:

  • Axel Hémery, National Picture Gallery of Siena
  • Barbara Rossi, Educational Service of the Soprintendenza Speciale Archeologia Belle Arti e Paesaggio di Roma – Drugstore Museum

The meeting will be held on Friday, November 14 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Auditorium.
