INAUGURAL CONFERENCE “THE MUSEUM OF THE FUTURE: INVOLVEMENT, ACTIVE PARTICIPATION AND INCLUSIVE PRACTICES”
In cooperation with the General Directorate of Museums of the Ministry of Culture
The conference aims to explore the Museum’s possibilities of relating to diverse audiences, particularly to categories of visitors that are difficult to “reach,” identifying new forms of involvement and activating the most current ways of heritage education that can provide answers to the needs and challenges that contemporary society presents. Through specific targeted projects, the Museum orients processes of active community participation in the process of identifying and strengthening the knowledge of the cultural identity values of which the tangible and intangible cultural heritage is the bearer, acting as a center of interpretation and dissemination for the community. In pursuit of its mission and in line with ICOM’s new definition, the Museum implements multi-directional inclusive outreach strategies, especially targeting the younger generation to create awareness and contribute to better cultural and social growth, but also targeting the most “disadvantaged” areas (prisons, hospitals, schools, migrant communities, suburban and slum neighborhoods) to reduce through the cultural tool the social gap and offer relational and educational experiences aimed at individual and collective well-being.
