In collaboration with the Ministero della Cultura – Dipartimento per la Valorizzazione del Patrimonio Culturale e Fondazione Santagata per l’Economia della Cultura – Foundation in official relations with UNESCO
The panel explores the topic of decarbonization in the cultural and creative sector, with an emphasis on moving from research to action.
In continuity with what was presented during the last edition of RO.ME, the meeting starts from the results of the 4C Observatory – deCarbonization in the Cultural and Creative Field, promoted by Santagata Foundation for the Economy of Culture.
The Observatory, which surveyed about 1,000 Italian cultural organizations between 2024 and 2025, returns an articulated picture of emission reduction practices in the cultural sector, highlighting a growing awareness but also the need for concrete tools to accelerate the transition.
Through a dialogue between research and operational experiences, the panel will present virtuous cases of institutions and museums that are integrating decarbonization into their management strategies, exhibition programs, and public engagement. The goal is to identify replicable models and practical solutions to make cultural organizations and I museums laboratories of innovation and leaders in the challenge toward carbon neutrality, capable of guiding behaviors, policies and collective imaginaries.
