ARCHIVES OF ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS: CONTEMPORARY FRUITIONS
In collaboration with AIPAI, Italian Association for Industrial Archaeological Heritage and TICCIH Italy, International Committee for the Conservation of Industrial Heritage, DSDRA – Sapienza University of Rome
Session II – Future | Contemporary fruitions, experiences and projections
The Architectural Heritage constitutes one of the most extraordinary legacies of our civilization, and the designs that represent it are valuable evidence of its being and changing over time. Preserving and making usable the drawings and photographs that represented it proves, therefore, to be fundamental: in particular, the surveys and the various graphic elaborations of study and design, constitute a significant source of knowledge, as much for the history of the factories as as a testimony to the methods and technologies of analysis and reading of the different cultural environments within which they were produced. The conference aims to be an opportunity for scholarly reflection on the issues of preservation, sharing and dissemination of the heritage of architectural drawing archives, relating experiences from different archival collections, innovative research and projects, methodologies and technologies.
The second session will provide an overview of contemporary uses of archives, from illustrating significant experiences to possible future developments.
