CENTRICA

Centrica is a first mover in Italy in the promotion of art through the use of digital technologies. A pioneer in high-resolution digitisation in the order of gigapixels per image – it is responsible for the digitisation project of over a thousand works preserved in the Uffizi Galleries in Florence – since 1999, it has been combining professional skills, experience, know-how and creativity to promote the artistic heritage of museums and cultural institutions to a growing international audience. It creates immersive and interactive exhibitions, including abroad, from the 2010 Shanghai EXPO, the “Renaissance in Florence” exhibition at the National Museum in Beijing in 2012, to the Uffizi Virtual Experience in Milan (2016), Renaissance Experience in Leipzig and Shenzhen (2018), and recently in Beijing at the National Museum, held concurrently with the exhibition Self-portraits masterpieces from the Uffizi Galleries collection.
Centrica creates installations with voice interaction using digital humans based on artificial intelligence, such as in the inter-institutional project for the protection, conservation, enhancement and networking of the tangible and intangible heritage of Puglia and Basilicata (ICBSA) or that for the Vallicelliana Library.
With the EdTech start-up ArtCentrica, it innovates the teaching and learning of art and through art in schools and universities. ArtCentrica EDU is a cloud application with more than 8,000 works of art.
With the EdTech start-up ArtCentrica, it is innovating the teaching and learning of art and through art in schools and universities. ArtCentrica EDU is a cloud application with more than 8,000 works of art from 21 museums around the world (Uffizi Galleries, Brera, MET, Rijksmuseum, etc.) with images of up to 10 gigapixels for each work. Through the lens of art, the project aims to provide students with the soft skills essential to face the challenges of today and tomorrow, as well as to support teachers in their mission to educate in an ever-changing society.
With ArtCentrica Platform, it carries out customised projects, called ArtCentrica Ad Hoc, such as “The Greatest Wildlife Photographs” for National Geographic, the Ministry of Culture, Digital Mantegna and others.
Between 2022 and 2025, ArtCentrica has won prestigious awards and been selected for many acceleration programmes: Global EdTech Startup Awards Winner in the “That’s Geography” track, accelerated by CDP with FuturED, winner of the Digital Innovation in Art Award Allstars in 2024, it was recently selected for the EIT Culture&Creativity Scaleup Programme with Demo Day in Paris on 26 November 2025.
ArtCentrica is creating a tool in which human intelligence and artificial intelligence converge to create interactive multimedia narratives centred on works of art: AI ArtCentrica Stories. Through this ethical AI innovation, works of art are transformed into dynamic elements, both as the subject of the narrative and as a vehicle for illustrating diverse concepts.
