Expert in rural and cultural tourism, since 2003 is Director of the Phoenicians’ Route, International Cultural Route of Mediterranean Intercultural Dialogue, within which he coordinates a network of Mediterranean museums – Me.Mu.Net, a network of Mediterranean schools – Edu.Net, and a network of universities – International Universities Network supporting the Phoenicians’ Route. In 2009 it was promoted also the Phoenicians’Route Tour Operators Alliance to connect the territorial cultural offer and the market. He has worked in many territorial cultural marketing projects at international level, in sustainable tourism and in local development. He cooperates with many universities (especially with Bologna University – Rimini Campus – Tourism and Geography Chair), development agencies and international organizations (ICOM, OECD and others). Expert also in training, lifelong learning, heritage pedagogy, geography of tourism, ecomuseums, widespread museums, quality territorial branding, experiential and creative tourism. Among the publications: Religious tourism and development, Rural tourism marketing handbook, Tourism itineraries and Wine Routes, tourism guides, Heritage Interpretation, etc.
